New Cafe Find: Urban Cafe

At the Wilcon IT Hub in Pasong Tamo, the same building where Grab office is, there are some restaurants that office workers and nearby residents can check out to grab a bite to eat. One recently opened is Urban Cafe. Being the coffee lovers that we are, we decided to visit.

Its most likely that the shoppers inside Wilcon will be the ones to benefit from Urban cafe since it’s inside the store. Though of course office workers in the area of Pasong Tamo who love coffee will also like having a nearby coffee shop within walking distance.

It’s a coffee kiosk so honestly, coffee drinks wise, there’s not a lot to expect. But since it was the nearest coffee shop in our office area, we went to try it out anyway.

We ordered pasta, sandwich and dessert to go along with our drinks.

Pesto pasta Php180

It’s almost priced the same as some pasta from the big coffee chains like Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. Unfortunately, I was honestly disappointed with this dish. Serving wise, I thought it’s small and too few. The pasta was hard to chew like it wasn’t cooked well enough and a bit dry for my taste. I like my pesto oily. The chicken is okay but it was not juicy. In fact it was kind of bland for my taste. Also was expecting grilled chicken but the chicken in this pesto was friend. Verdict for this? Not worth spending for.

Chicken Po Boy sandwich, Php215

A friend ordered the chicken po boy sandwich. The chicken’s supposed to be spicy but the taste is just so-so. According to her she’d give this a 2.5 stars rating out of 5 as the highest.  The bread was hard to chew though the chicken was good – it was juicy.

Red Velvet cake

Well who could go wrong with dessert? This cake is delicious.

But before you dismiss Urban Cafe, there’s something that sets it apart. This cafe specializes in crocodile dishes!

Crocodile sisig, Php195

An adventurous workmate tried it out and we asked his opinion about it. Now this sisig looks like your regular pork meat but this crocodile sisig according to him taste better than that. It’s also not as oily or as fatty as your regular sisig. Serving is okay as well for the price. So will he try it again? Absolutely.

The Urban Cafe specializes in crocodile dishes and they have a croc farm in Rizal.

Will we come back? Sure, for coffee and pastries. And for some of us who are open to eating crocodile dishes as well.
