In the spirit of Halloween, let’s talk about movies related to the occasion this week.
Of course, Hollywood would not dare miss releasing a movie in relation to Halloween. Now these suggestions are not necessarily scary So if you feel like seeing a movie in theaters this week, here are a couple of suggestions:
- Goosebumps – The movie stars Jack Black and Amy Ryan. The movie is named after a book series of the same name, Goosebumps, written by RL Stine – the same author of the scary books Fear Street, which was very popular in the 90s.
Plot: Upset about moving from the big city to a small town, young Zach Cooper (Dylan Minnette) finds a silver lining when he meets his beautiful neighbor Hannah (Odeya Rush). The teen is surprised to learn that Hannah’s mysterious father is R.L. Stine (Jack Black), the famous author of the best-selling “Goosebumps” series. When Zach accidentally unleashes the monsters from the fantastic tales, it’s up to Stine, his daughter and Cooper to return the beasts back to the books where they belong.
2. Crimson Peak – This is actually a gothic romance film which stars Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, Charlie Hunnam and Jim Beaver. But it does involve seeing ghosts so this still counts!
Plot: After marrying the charming and seductive Sir Thomas Sharpe, young Edith (Mia Wasikowska) finds herself swept away to his remote gothic mansion in the English hills. Also living there is Lady Lucille, Thomas’ alluring sister and protector of her family’s dark secrets. Able to communicate with the dead, Edith tries to decipher the mystery behind the ghostly visions that haunt her new home. As she comes closer to the truth, Edith may learn that true monsters are made of flesh and blood.
3. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension – I’m sure you’ve heard or even seen the other Paranormal Activity movies. INever seen any of the movie series before though I have heard it’s scary… So if you like scary movies, then put this on your list!
Plot: The Ghost Dimension, follows a new family, The Fleeges – father Ryan (Chris J. Murray), mother Emily (Brit Shaw) and their young daughter Leila (Ivy George) – Who move into a house and discover a video camera and a box of tapes in the garage. When they look through the camera’s lens, they begin to see the paranormal activity happening around them – including the re-emergence of young Kristi and Katie.
